We are pleased to announce the 12th National Caldicott Guardian Annual Conference which will take place as an in person event with the option of virtual attendance.

There are now more than 22,000 Caldicott Guardians in place in health, social care and beyond. This conference will bring together current and aspiring Caldicott Guardians to understand current issues and the national context regarding the handling and use of confidential patient information, and to debate and discuss key issues and areas they are facing in practice implementing and adhering to the Caldicott Principles.

This year Helen Dyer, Council Member UK Caldicott Guardian Council will be bringing the popular UKCGC Breakfast Club Live to the conference, where you can expect relevant news updates, the opportunity to meet other Caldicott Guardians, case study explorations and the chance to ask questions you may be facing as a Caldicott Guardian. This conference will enable you to:

  • Network with fellow Caldicott Guardians and those working to deliver the Caldicott Role and Principles

  • Hear updates from the National Data Guardian for Health and Social Care and the UK Caldicott Guardian Council 

  • Learn from Caldicott Guardians about issues they are facing in practice

  • Understand and reflect on what makes an excellent Caldicott Guardian and what are the competencies required 

  • Improving understanding of frontline staff in the Caldicott Principles and developing a Caldicott Culture

  • Reflect on the ethics and morality within the role 

  • Self assess and improve your decision making skills as a Caldicott Guardian

  • Update your knowledge on sharing information with families and safeguards around online access 

  • Learn how Caldicott Guardians are working with Medical Examiners and explore information sharing at end of life and after deaths 

  • Understand how to manage difficult issues and ethical dilemmas for Caldicott Guardians

  • Develop your skills and leadership as a Caldicott Guardian 

  • Apply the Caldicott Principles in practice and learn from case studies in information sharing with the police, in emergency situations, in suicide, in care homes and at the end of life 

  • Attend an optional dedicated workshop for new and aspiring Caldicott Guardians (in person only)

  • Self assess and reflect on your own practice

  • Supports CPD professional development and acts as revalidation evidence. This course provides 5 Hrs training for CPD subject to peer group approval for revalidation purposes

About the UK Caldicott Guardian Council (UKCGC)

We support Caldicott Guardians and others fulfilling the Caldicott function within their organisation by providing a point of contact for all Caldicott Guardians and for health and care organisations seeking advice on the Caldicott Principles. We enable Caldicott Guardians to share information, views and experience. We encouraging consistent standards and training for Caldicott Guardians.

Location

Hallam Conference Centre, Cavendish Venues, 44 Hallam St, London W1W 6JJ

By rail

Marylebone, Euston and Kings Cross St Pancras Stations are all within 10 minutes taxi rides or alternatively 15 minutes by Underground. Paddington Station (which has a direct link to Heathrow every 15 minutes) is 20 minutes walk or 10 minutes in a taxi.

By road

There is on-street parking nearby, see: Parking in Westminster for more information. The nearest NCP car park is at 6-7 Weymouth Mews. Please note that this venue is within the Congestion Charge zone.
