CQC Annual Survey of Hospital Inpatients

The CQC has released it's latest annual survey of hospital inpatients, it has found that the majority of patients remain positive about care they receive when in hospital but over a third say their health deteriorated while waiting for treatment - other areas of deterioration were related to waiting times, levels of staffing and on ward access to previously prescribed medications. Those who scored nine or higher out of ten for their overall inpatient experience decreased to 50% in 2022 which was down from 52% in 2021 and 56% in 2020.

“as pressures continue to mount, ensuring the best possible experience throughout the entirety of the patient journey is a task that needs input from all parts of the health and care system.” Dr Sean O’Kelly, Chief Inspector of Healthcare, Care Quality Commission
