Jugdeep is a consultant geriatrician working in the innovative and award-winning POPS (Perioperative medicine for Older People undergoing Surgery) service at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Jugdeep said "We will all be seeing more older people with more complexity as we have an ageing population"

She continued to say "You play a critical role in starting the conversations with patients and carers, referring to the right service early and promoting a team culture between surgery, anaesthetics & geriatric medicine, as well as other factors"

Jugdeep closed her talk by saying "We need to plan better, Its so important to be very clear with patients about medications they should and shouldn't be taking during the perioperative period", "this can save hospital stays which can avoid deconditioning which can happen during a hosital stay - the best way to avoid this it to not admit patients for over night stays".
