Speaker: Chandos Green

I’m Chandy, a passionate advocate for mental health and disability rights. My work centres on promoting the social model of disability and raising awareness about the lived experiences of individuals navigating these challenges.

 

On Adult Safeguarding, Chandos said "Connect with the patient, this helps to bridge the gap, make them feel they have power in the situation".

Chandos also said "See the person, not the problem, put the person first".

 

EXTENDED SESSION: Learning from Concerns to Ensure Improvement Developing your leadership skills in adult safeguarding

• leadership behaviours in adult safeguarding

• improving the way concerns are identified, reported and escalated

• how can we ensure learning from concerns whether they lead to section 42 enquiries or not

• identify and understand the barriers to reporting, effective information sharing and learning in care organisations

• ensure understanding of the various roles, responsibilities and governance in adult safeguarding

• developing your skills and competence in adult safeguarding improvement

Independent Consultant - Peter Cheer Consulting

Having previously been operations director of a large national charity providing care and support services, Peter has worked as an independent consultant since 2015.

 

 

Peter discussed supporting care organisations, he said "creating a positive reporting culture and recognising that staff may be reluctant to raise concerns are two points to consider".

Peter also said "Seek feedback from those who have raised concerns".

"From a leadership point of view its important to talk to relatives and staff and find out the bigger picture, so you are leading from the front end".
