Chandran opened the conference giving an overview of the Faculty of Physician Associates, including the structure and aims.
Chandran discussed the new recertification process including their new ePortfolio electronic platform on their website. This area will be able to log evident of clinical competencies, record CPD and more. They are working to a target date of October 2023.
He shared some key documents that the FPA have been working on in preparation to regulation.

Helen confirmed that the DHSC consultation on the order closed last month. This Order will give the GMC the power to regulate, but we also need to develop formal ‘rules’ setting out how processes operate. Helen laid out the current target dates;
- The legislation laid in Parliament has a target date of end of 2023
- The GMC consultant on draft ‘rule’ is due to be by start of 2024
- The target for the regulation to start is end of 2024
