The results of the 2022 NHS Staff Survey have now been published, giving invaluable insight into the experiences of 600,000 NHS staff working in autumn 2022.
The NHS Staff Survey has been conducted every year since 2003 and it is one of the largest workforce surveys in the world, providing essential information to employers and national stakeholders about NHS staff experiences.
The 2022 survey had a 45% response rate, with 636,348 staff participating from 264 NHS organisations. The survey does not cover primary care staff, participation is mandatory for trusts and volutnary for non-trust organisations.
The results of the survey show only 62.9% of staff members are happy with the standard of care provided by their organisation and would recommend it to a friend who needed treatment, while 42.6% would not recommend their organisation as a place to work.
Regarding Autonomy and Control, 54.3% of staff feel able to make improvements happen in their area of work, while the sub-score for raising concerns declined from last year's result with only 48.7% of staff feeling confident that their organisation would address their concern.
The survey result also highlights that only 57.3% of staff members feel they are 'able to access the right learning and development opportunities when they need to', and 45.3% of staff do not feel supported to develop their potential.
