The opening speaker at today's conference Eva- Maria who spoke about Aligning Human Factors with Quality Improvement in healthcare. She started her talk giving an indtroduction into Human Factors. She described Human Factors and Ergonomics as the scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system.
Eva-Maria then went on to speak about 'what HF can offer'. She said that considering a systems approach in governance, one may be able to identifying monitoring tools that will allow the service to be aware of their system. This may allow the service to identify necessary system modifications over time to maintain optimal functioning, so the system does not become outdated and staff revert back to workarounds to maintain its functioning.
