This brand new e-learning course with 12 in-depth modules has been developed in consultation with experienced clinical directors and medical directors who have spoken and attended our ‘Developing your Skills as a Clinical Director’ events. The course features new content along with video content from our well established series of events aimed at clinical director development. The aim of the course is to provide an understanding of the role and qualities required for the role, understand challenging issues, and support you to develop your skills as a Clinical Director. The course is available to both individuals and on a trust wide licence for current and aspiring clinical directors.
The role of the Clinical Director is both a rewarding and challenging one yet many Clinical Directors have little training and can feel like they have been thrown in at the deep end. Therefore, this course is designed to enable learning from experienced Clinical Directors, and encourage the learner to reflect and actively think about making a difference to not just the role but to their service and to patients. Online courses can get quite boring and one-sided, so we have created a workbook as parallel material to try and make this course as engaging and interactive as possible. This workbook will act as a tool for note-taking, completing exercises, and can be used in appraisals, for reflective practice, or to support preparation for the role.
The course aims to support current and aspiring clinical directors to understand the role, to appreciate the challenges that comes with the role and to learn from experienced clinical and medical directors who have delivered the role in practice. Self-assessment tools and reflective practice will allow you to assess your skills and competence and set achievable goals for improvement.
